Climate Change Predictions
ClimiCideML revolutionizes and quantifies how climate change affects mental health - an aspect that is often ignored.
Climate Data Analysis
Climate change is a pressing global issue that extends beyond its environmental impacts. It is driven by the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, primarily from human activities such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes. The consequences of climate change manifest in various forms, including rising global temperatures, changing weather patterns, sea-level rise, and increased frequency of extreme weather events. ClimiCide hopes to bring about solutions to the impact of climate change on suicide rates.
Baseline for Solutions
Addressing the mental health implications of climate change requires a comprehensive approach. We need to mitigate climate change but also prioritize mental health support systems. This includes enhancing mental health services, promoting community cohesion, strengthening social support networks, and raising awareness about the mental health impacts of climate change among healthcare providers, policymakers, and the general public.
Sourcing Accurate Data
Data is only as good as its source. We trained our model on NASA climate data and used predicted temperature for 2040 from Climate Impact Lab. Our model also used the CDC underlying death dataset to train. In order to predict death rates, the model divided predicted suicides by predicted population in 2040 (sourced from the St. Louis federal dataset). ClimiCIde predicts the number of suicides and the death rates in 2040.
